Join Sky & Telescope in Northern New Mexico for “Ring of Fire” annular eclipse adventure. Surround yourself with the blue, blue skies, and desert landscape of Santa Ana Pueblo, historic home of the Tamaya Pueblo Indians. We’ll be based at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya, which seamlessly blends local tradition and contemporary luxury. We’ll range around Central and Northern New Mexico exploring the far-flung wonders of the Land of Enchantment. Delve into ancient astronomy at remote Chaco Canyon National Historical Park, contemporary astronomy at the legendary Very Large Array, and the future of planetary science at SIPI (Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute), a community college with a Mars Yard-equipped robotics program. Along the way we’ll visit Los Alamos, a vital site in the World War II Manhattan Project, drive through a volcanic caldera, and immerse ourselves in New Mexico’s beautiful vistas. Meditate on the perennial New Mexico question, “Green or red?” as you explore the very distinctive New Mexican cuisine.
